Feel less irritable...

I'd love to help investigate your gut issues

If you have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) or symptoms including abdominal bloating or pain, excessive wind, reflux, constipation and / or diarrhoea, and you are looking for a specialist IBS Dietitian in Adelaide, you've come to the right place!  Amanda also offers online consultations for Australian and International clients.

Having spent years on her own IBS journey and successfully supported 100s of clients, Amanda Moon has A LOT of knowledge she's eager to share. There are many different approaches to managing (and even resolving) gut and digestive issues such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome.  Sometimes it takes a little experimentation to find what works for YOU.  A comprehensive understanding of your symptoms and gut / health history is also really important.

Amanda's experience has lead her to creating a comprehensive THREE-STAGE IBS plan that gets personalised for you.

An IBS recovery journey typically takes 2-4 months, with symptoms being improved in as little as 3 weeks – meaning you could be feeling much better very soon!  Read below for some of the topics that will likely be covered in your plan, according to your symptoms and likely cause/s, diet, lifestyle and other relevant factors.

STAGE ONE – the basics:
  • Consider the likely cause/s for your IBS and possible options to reduce or reverse the impact;
  • Learn the tips to improve your digestion;
  • Ensure all basic essential tests have been completed by your GP (or other practitioner/s) to rule out Coeliac disease, parasites, nutrient deficiencies and H. Pylori as relevant;
  • Trial SHORT-TERM diet changes for symptom improvement;
  • Optimise your nutrition including for gut health;
  • Learn how to read food labels and what to look for according to short-term and long-term diet changes;
  • Understand the role of probiotic supplements and the specific strains of bacteria (and yeasts) that may help relieve symptoms and potential dysbiosis;
  • Learn specific exercises to relieve IBS symptoms (including breathing exercises) and which exercises may make things worse;
  • Where appropriate, be guided to make changes to physical, psychological and environmental stressors likely impacting your microbiome and symptoms;
  • Where suitable, commence nutraceuticals to modulate gut function and health.

STAGE TWO – advanced options:
  • Learn about advanced tests available to identify and guide treatment for digestive issues, infections (e.g. SIBO, dysbiosis, yeast overgrowth) and food intolerances;
  • Learn the role of your GP and any other practitioners for treatment of gut infections (both medical and natural approaches);
  • How to use diet and nutrition when treating and healing gut infections and inflammatory states such as gastritis;
  • Be guided on different therapeutic modalities available that may help with symptom relief and healing.

STAGE THREE – maintenance:
  • Broaden your diet as much as possible while managing your symptoms (if still present)
  • Become more in-tune to your body’s communications and how to best respond if symptoms arise
  • Learn any current diet habits that may negatively impact your gut health
  • Reconnect with your body’s hunger, fullness and appetite cues to avoid overloading the digestive system
  • Learn about probiotic and prebiotic foods for good gut health
  • Ongoing education and support for optimising your diet to nourish your body for digestive function, overall energy, mood and to ultimately feel your best - including any advice needed for meal prep, cooking tips, eating out with any diet restrictions or requirements etc.
